June 26, 2014, Clearwater, FL: For the first time in its 22-year history, the Annual Gentlemen’s Club EXPO (produced by ED Publications) will feature staff-specific Training Seminars designed to offer tips and advice exclusively for various aspects of a club’s staff. On Monday, August 18th and Tuesday, August 19th, there will be a total of four seminars occurring simultaneously in each of three staff-specific “rooms”: The “Management Room,” the “Security/Wait Staff Room” and the “DJ/Promo Staff Room” (two each day). On Tuesday the 19th, the EXPO’s Keynote Address by Tim Kirkland of Renegade Hospitality will reflect the convention’s theme, “Formula Win: Turn Your Staff Into a Winning Crew,” an address designed for all EXPO guests.
In the “Management Room,” each seminar will be hosted by experts in a very specific area of club management operation. The first of these seminars, “You’re Hired” (8/18, Noon-1 pm), starts right at the beginning. Hiring is a critical component in running any business—so how do you do it right? Two industry experts with well over 50 years of combined experience—Dean Reardon, District Manager with the Spearmint Rhino club chain and a longtime club executive with the Christie’s Cabaret club chain, and David Boehm, longtime club executive and owner/operator of Club Consultant Pro 2.0—will reveal their tips for hiring the best adult nightclub staff.
Once you have your ideal staff in place, the next logical step is in training and motivating them. But in a society so transfixed on individual accomplishments, how can you get an entire staff to put forth 100% effort so that everyone wins? Two seasoned club executives—Jim St. John, Spearmint Rhino’s VP of Acquisitions and Jeff Levy of StripClubRescue.com—will offer their tips on how to motivate each member of your staff for this “Motivate Them” seminar (8/18, 1-2 pm), whether they be a 20-something server or a 20-year-veteran manager.
While females—specifically, entertainers—are considered the most important facet of the adult nightclub industry, how many clubs utilize women in other positions, including upper management and club security? The three speakers on our “A Woman’s Touch” management seminar—Sherry Cooper (longtime Deja Vu chain General Manager), Jenn Shamy (owner of Delilah’s in Philadelphia) and Maureen Lafferty (Delilah’s longtime Operations Manager)—will make the case that having qualified females in upper management positions is something that every club owner should, at the very least, consider.
To round out our management seminars, two very successful club executives—Micheal Ocello, President of the VCG/PT’s Showclubs chain and Ken DeGori, managing partner with E11EVEN Miami, who together have over 50 years of industry experience—will touch on the theme of this year’s EXPO on the “How I Built My Winning Team” seminar by offering tips on how they’ve built their successful “teams.”
