“Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy,” she says

angie-smoke-weed-eat-pussy-official-vid-2Sweden’s self-proclaimed “Lil Weed Hoe” Ängie stirs controversy with her autobiographical, trap-heavy track

Sweden, a Scandinavian nation with thousands of coastal islands and inland lakes, is known as much for its Viking ancestry as it is for its wealth of popular heavy metal (Opeth, Ghost, etc.) and black metal (Marduk, Bathory, etc.) bands. But of course, there’s a lot more to Sweden than its pagan history and corpse-paint-wearing musicians. The antithesis to all of that is Ängie, an attractive, slim, young blonde girl who looks as innocent as the first snow of a Swedish winter.

Well, she’s not that innocent. Those looks belie a devil-may-care attitude, one that led her to write the controversial track, “Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy.” The song was described by one writer as “a rebellious anthem that finds Ängie dropping bars over trap heavy production” and “hip-hop for the internet generation.” However it’s described, with a title like that, what adult club DJ wouldn’t have dancers (and customers) clamoring to hear it again and again? That’s exactly why “Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy” is available for free for club DJs via StripJointsMusic.com.

ED Publications had the chance to get to know Ängie (aka, the self-proclaimed “Lil’ Weed Ho”) a little better, as she continues to bask in the glow of the stir that her song has created.

ED: With a song title like "Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy," it's going to cause a lot of reaction! But when an attractive woman is singing a song with that title, it seems like it would get a different reaction than if a man had a recorded a song with that title. Would you agree?

ANGIE: Yes, it was the point to get as many reactions as possible. But it’s kinda sad that they got so mad. Like, can you please have a sense of humor? I knew plenty of the men would react negative on the song, but they ain’t got no brain so I don’t care. I think it’s kinda funny that a girl can’t do these type of songs without some of the men cringing their eyes out. It’s 2016, god damnit!

ED: I read that the song is about "slutting around" after a break-up. Many people can identify with that, as a way to "get over" the break-up. Did it help you get over it? answer:

ANGIE: Yes it did. But it was my first girlfriend so I was sad for a long time after the breakup.

ED: It seems like almost every artist who is from Sweden credits (‘70s Swedish pop band) ABBA as an influence (even the band Ghost says they were influenced by ABBA!). What artists influenced you, whether they're from Sweden, the U.S., the U.K. etc.?

ANGIE: Haha, ABBA is definitely not an inspiration. I get inspired by me and my friends,  but also Tyler the Creator, Tommy Cash, Yung Lean and Lana Del Rey. It’s hard to say; if I like something I make it happen, in my own way.

ED: So far, we've only heard the song "Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy." What would a whole CD from Ängie sound like?

ANGIE: Oh, you just have to wait. A bunch of feelings, bad and good.

ED: Our magazine goes to every adult nightclub (strip club) in the U.S., and is also read by hundreds of club DJs. We're going to be telling them about you and your song, "Smoke Weed, Eat Pussy." For the DJs who haven't heard the song yet, why do they want to check it out and play it in their club?

ANGIE: Because it’s a fun song to dance to and it brings a warm fuzzy feeling!

ED: A lot of dancers in the U.S. will identify with the lyrics (because some enjoy doing both!). Have you ever been to a U.S. strip clubs, or any strip club? If so, what's your favorite part about going to a club?

ANGIE: I have never been to a strip club but I want to so bad.I would like to be a stripper for a day, but I’m not sure I’d like it (haha).

ED: The laws in the U.S. about marijuana are slowly changing. Now, it's legal in some states and more states are considering legalization. What are the laws in Sweden about marijuana? What are your thoughts about marijuana being legalized in the U.S.?

ANGIE: I really think it’s stupid to even consider it as a drug. It’s a fucking medicine. It helps so many people with different types of issues. For me, I started because of depression and look at me now, from emo girl to a flowering artist!

ED: What’s next for Ängie, as far as recording music or live shows?

ANGIE: Do some shows, release more music and make music videos. Just keep on keeping on. Love ya!
